Our History

Our History

Crawshaw Funeral Home was founded in 1931 by Raymond A. "Ray"Crawshaw  (1903-1986) and his wife Lettie May McCarter Crawshaw (1906-1990). They purchased the former Cecil R. Runells Funeral Home located where the funeral home now operates. The year 2006 marked Crawshaw Funeral Home's 75th anniversary.

This anniversary coincided with the 3rd generation ownership of Crawshaw Funeral Home by Howard Crawshaw, grandson of the founder Raymond A.  "Ray" Crawshaw. Howard is a successor not only to his grandfather, but also to his father, Gene Crawshaw (1931-2016), who was Ray and May Crawshaw's eldest son. Gene retired in 1993. Howard is also a successor to his Uncle, Bill Crawshaw who is Ray and May Crawshaw’s younger son, Bill retired in 2005.

Howard and Donna Crawshaw's son Alex is the 4th generation Crawshaw to work in the family business. Alex joined Dan and Howard, and is the 3rd licensed funeral director and embalmer now employed at Crawshaw Funeral Home.

Today, Crawshaw Funeral Home remains 100% family owned and operated and is not a part of any national or regional chain.
